Thomas Lee Patton, 59, of Westfield, IN, passed away June 22, 2009. Born in DuBois, PA to Thomas I. and Adelia (Lepionka) Patton. Known to many as “General” or “Pittsburgh”, he never missed a Steeler or Penn State game. A proud U.S. Marine Veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Indiana Nat’l Guard. Survivors include his wife, Christina (Levendusky) Patton; children, Jeremy, Evan, and Amanda (Min); brother, Robert (Sheila) Patton; father-in-law, Bernard Levendusky and several nephews and nieces. He was preceeded in death by his parents and sister, Marcie Vitarelli.Visitation: June 27, 2009 6:00 to 8:00 p.m at Harry W. Moore Funeral Care. There will be no graveside service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or Gleaners Food Bank. Special thanks to all the “Living Angels” at St. Vincent Hospice who offered immeasurable support and compassion.

So hard. So hard. Our son, Fred, is so close to Amanda. I lost my brother on the 24th. Fred has lost his ever-so-helpful uncle and Amanda’s dad. And his sister is getting married August 1. So many emotions. So hard. So hard.

Tom, old buddy, we shared many years of fishing, drinking coffee and hanging out. i will never forget you, our many fishing expeditions, sometimes not many fish but always a lot of laughs, about the time you had a large crapie on your line and I cut your line, about the time we went fishing down south and we never packed a lunch or ate breakfast because we thought we could get something to eat down by the lake. as our luck would have it, no place to eat, thought we would starve until we ran across some campers who invited us to breakfast, saltist bacon I ever ate, boy did we laugh about that, about the times we snuck in to fish at what is now Sagamore, the time we were really into the crappies at Waveland and ran out of minnows, so going back to the bait house to get some more the battery in the little boat went dead, about the time at Waveland you saw a snake swim up to the boat and tried to beat it to death with a paddle, we were always going to have one last cast because we never wanted to quit.
My friend, I’m so sorry we didn’t continue, first I moved than you. The Penn State vs Nebraska football game for the National Championship, I believe in 1983. I thought I would have a heart attack, after the game we were so pumped up we had to go to the Village Pantry and drink coffee.
So long old buddy, you were the best friend I ever had.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of my friend and co-worker @ Marcraft Corp.. We spent 16 yrs together (16 GOOD YEARS)sharing laughs and even our problems with one another. It was a true blessing to meet the family. He talked and bragged about all of you,and after I met everyone of you I could see why he could stick his chest out. I wish I could have been a part of his homegoing service, but I too was sending home a loved one. May you let go and let God guide you through this rough time. My friend will truly be missed. Stay strong and together.

I served with you for many years at Battery C 2nd Battalion 150th Field Artillery. I still remember the time you “attempted” to ride the 155MM Howitzer when you fired it with a Charge 7 White Bag. It threw you off like a rodeo bull. I still chuckle when I think about that. However, you got right back on and continued the mission like you always did. My thoughts are with you and your family. You were an outstanding soldier and friend. You will be missed!

You always made me laugh- whether you were coming over and making ’piles’ for Evan to pick up when he got home because you knew how much he loved them, or you were making up ’ghetto’ songs on the way home from Chicago when Evan I picked up you and Chris. I got to know Tom for a brief period of time during the summer of ’82 when we both worked at a place making straws. He was a great guy and made a lasting impression on me. We talked at lot of college football being I was at Purdue at the time and of course we all know what university he loved (certainly didn’t know they’d be in the same conference years later). I’ve thought about him from time to time and am sadden to find out he is gone from here. The Lord has a true and honorable character to deal with! My best to you all.
